About SIBYC
Sussex Inlet & Basin Yacht Club Inc founded in 1987 is the 3rd known sailing club on St Georges Basin and is the only Club now existing , providing competitive racing in a social environment. The Club is open to all those interested in sailing either actively or as a supporter of Club activities.
The Club membership consists of over 30 trailer-sailers and races on most Thursdays and Saturdays during the season October to May.
For the new season there are over 40 organised races in 6 series so there are races and times to suit everyone. The Club has selected 6 different courses for 2008/2009 season, with the major change being the Basin chase and Passage series to be sailed on Saturdays. These 2 exciting courses take you around the beautiful waters of St Georges Basin
History
The first recorded sailing club on St Georges Basin was "The St Vincent Sailing Club" founded in 1898. Click here to read extracts from The Shoalhaven Telegraph 1898.
